The OPPO R11; the selfie king that looks like the iPhone 7
Oppo is known for trying to beat everyone in the mid-range section; they are not competing with the likes of LG, Huawei, Samsung andApple in the High-end market. Instead, they focus on making beautifully designed phones (that always look like the iPhone) with the best of specs for a mid-range phone, and this trend continues with the Oppo R11 and its bigger bro, the Oppo R11 plus.
We will be talking about the Oppo R11 which comes with the now familiar5.5-inch display screen with a Gorilla Glass 5 panel. Other specs include a 4GB RAM, 64 GB storage, Snapdragon 660, 3000 mAh battery, ColorOS 3.1 running Android 7.1.1, a 20MP + 16MP dual camera setup at the back and whopping 20MP front shooter.Much attention was given to the camera department, and this is a smart move by Oppo given that these are selfie times!
Design
Oppo copies the design on the iPhone and still sells, so we are not going to dwell on that as it appears customers do not mind. The iPhone copy aside; you have a beautifully designedsleek metallic phone! It is curvy at the back and with a double antenna line; which also happens to differentiate it from the iPhone 7 plus. The dual cameras sit at the top left corner.
Looking at the sides, you have curved edges and a thin bezel, allowing for good grip. Volume controls are on the left sides while the power button can be foundon the right side of the slim and sleek alloy body. There is a home button at the front which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
However, you look at the Oppo R11, from the sides, front or back, it is stunning. The different color variants are like icing on a cake; the Oppo R11 comes in Rose Gold, regular gold and black.
Hardware
Oppo furnished the R11 with muchpower; it is the first phone alongside the R11 Plus running the Snapdragon 660 – the SD660 is just below the mighty SD835 and that counts for many things. Also considering that Qualcomm replaced a slower variant of the top-end SD835 that was in works with the SD660, it is the perfect processor for mid-range flagship phones.
Along with the competent processor, you have a 4GB RAM, and ample of storage with a 64GB memory and all of this come together to make the phone fast and smooth. You can run your high graphics game on this phone smoothly thanks to the integration of the Qualcomm Adreno 512 GPU. Gamers in the house say yay!
There is a dual SIM support or single and external memory, but with 64GB storage, you do not need an external memory card.
Software
As expected of a 2017 flagship device, the Oppo R11 runs Android 7.1.1 out of the box covered in the colorful Oppo’s Color OS v3.1. The new speedy skin comes with some exciting new features; you have the split screen, phone data transfers and eye protection mode.
Oppo claims the new skin helps ensure safety while you carry online transactions. With the phone transfer feature, you can transfer your extensive photo gallery, complete contact list, apps to another phone without internet and easily.
Camera and Battery
Oppo sacrificed battery for lightness, yes the Oppo R11 is ethereal, but that comes at a price, a not so generous 3000mAh battery! If you want a bigger battery, then the big bro Oppo R11 Plus with similar specs has a 4000mAh battery. There is a VOOC fast charge technology that can give you 2 hours talk time from a 5-minute charge. A sigh of relief in the battery department.
The camera department is where this phone kicked ass. It has dual camera setup and an unbelievable 20MP front shooter, selfie time! Here is some vital information about the camera:
· Dual 20MP cameras
· 2X optical zoom let you shoot from a distance
